what is e-Foiling?

If you’ve been out on the water lately, this may be a question that you’re asking yourself. E-foiling has gained a ton of popularity over the past year, and the interest continues to grow.

how does e-foiling work?

To understand E-foiling, you first need to understand what a hydrofoil is. To put it plainly, a hydrofoil like an underwater plane. Like a plane, the hydrofoil creates lift. This lift is used to raise the vessel out of the water in order to maximize it’s efficiency. The foil and it’s components cut through the water effortlessly, requiring little to no energy travel. Waves, wind, electric, gas, and manpower are all currently being used with hydrofoils. No mater how you’re moving through the water, a hydrofoil will ensure that you need less energy to do it. You can go faster and further, all while enjoying the phenomenal sensation of floating. It’s science that feels like magic.

E-foiling pairs electricity with the concept of a hydrofoil to create an unreal experience. Most companies use a Bluetooth remote paired with an electric motor and a high capacity battery. Due to the efficiency of the hydrofoil you are able to reach speeds of over 20mph, and enjoy battery life of up to 2 hours.

is e-foiling hard to learn?

If you are a decent swimmer, you can E-foil! The sport is relatively easy to learn. Most people can feel the sensation of foiling within 30 minutes. Guided tours and lessons use large, stable wings, as well as stable boards. Once you learn to use the controller, and find your balance on the board, you’re good to go! Foiling can also be enjoyed in a seated or kneeling position.

how much does e-foiling cost?

E-foils are priced similar to other powered PWCs (Personal Water Crafts) and range from $5,000-$15,000. Tours and lessons typically last 1-2 hrs, and range from $150-500. We recommend that you take a lesson and/or tour prior to operating a foil on your own. It’s also a great way to try different products and figure out what works best for you.
