Waydoo Flyer EVO Pro Lite Setup & Tuning Guide: Maximizing Your 27" Aluminum Mast
Share
If you've recently purchased or are looking to build a modular efoil setup, one of the most popular configurations in the lineup is the Waydoo Flyer EVO Pro Lite with the 27" aluminum mast. This configuration combines the ultra-stable, impact-resistant 90L EPP board with a highly durable, rigid 27-inch (69cm) aerospace-grade aluminum mast. In this tuning guide, we break down why this setup is the ultimate package for progression and how to get the most out of your water sessions.
1. Why the 27" Aluminum Mast is the Perfect Choice
The 27" (69cm) mast height is the sweet spot for learning and day-to-day freeriding. It keeps your center of gravity closer to the water's surface than longer 31" or 35" masts. This has three major benefits:
- Reduced Fall Impact: Being closer to the surface means falls are gentler and less intimidating.
- Easier Control: Weight shifts feel more linear, allowing you to master height and pitch control.
- Shallow Water Clearance: The shorter length is ideal for riding in lakes, bays, or shallow zones where rocks or reefs might present hazards.
Crafted from anodized marine-grade aluminum alloy, this mast offers absolute structural rigidity and outstanding corrosion protection, ensuring a bulletproof build that stands up to family use.

2. Setup and Tuning Checklist
To ensure maximum performance and battery efficiency, follow these assembly steps:
- Check the Mast Joint Connection: Clean the quick-release quick-lock mechanism before sliding the mast into position. Make sure the latch snaps shut cleanly.
- Wing Configuration: For the Pro Lite, we recommend pairing the mast with the Voyager C1500 wing. The high lift and surface area ensure low takeoff speeds, letting you foil at lower throttle levels.
- Apply Tef-Gel: Always apply a thin layer of Tef-Gel to the mounting bolts where the aluminum mast joins the fuselage to prevent galvanic corrosion.
3. Hand Controller Settings for Progression
The Waydoo hand controller features a digital display with 24 gear settings. When riding the Pro Lite configuration:
- Gears 1-8 (Beginner mode): Lock the remote in these lower gears to restrict top speed. This allows you to practice taxiing (riding on the surface) and gentle lifts without sudden acceleration.
- Gears 9-16 (Cruising mode): Perfect for long-distance carving and smooth straight-line cruising.
