Waydoo's breakthrough Flight Assist auto-leveling technology utilizes onboard sensors to actively balance the efoil board during flight. By automatically adjusting power and pitch, Flight Assist prevents nose-dives and stabilizes the deck, allowing beginners to stand up and hover above the water with confidence in their very first session.
The Tech Behind the Flight: Gyroscopes, Accelerometers & Altimeters
To make efoiling accessible to riders of all experience levels, Waydoo integrated an advanced Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) directly into the Flyer EVO board. This system actively monitors the board's attitude in three dimensions:
- Pitch Compensation: Monitors nose-up and nose-down angles, modulating power output to prevent steep climbs or aggressive nose-dives.
- Roll Stabilization: Senses side-to-side tilt, assisting the rider in keeping the deck level while getting on foil.
- Bottom Altimeter Sensors: Actively reads height above the water surface to maintain a consistent flying altitude.
Preventing the Dreaded Nose-Dive
For beginner efoilers, the most common challenge is managing the transition from displacement mode (riding flat on the water) to foiling mode (flying above it). A sudden shift in weight forward often results in a nose-dive, where the board abruptly strikes the water.
Waydoo's Flight Assist solves this by monitoring pitch rate. If the onboard IMU detects an uncontrolled descent, the electronic speed controller (ESC) instantly adjusts motor RPM and prop pitch to generate corrective hydrodynamic lift. The result is a smooth, cushioned touchdown rather than a sudden stop.
Adjustable Altitude Assist Settings
Through the intuitive wireless remote control menu, riders can customize the sensitivity of the Flight Assist system to match their progression:
- High Assist: Ideal for first-time riders. Maximize stabilization and altimeter control to keep the board flying flat at a safe, low altitude.
- Medium Assist: Provides gentle stability feedback while allowing the rider to practice manual pitch adjustments and carvings.
- Low / Off: Full manual control for advanced riders looking to push top speeds, execute deep carving turns, or ride swells.
